Doubling their chances with Competition number 8, saw the juniors go to Gosport’s Millennium Pier. A standard competition when every fish longer than 18cm counts on a point system saw only 2 junior’s catch such a fish, with Connor and Jimmy taking a mackerel and wrasse respectively. The mackerel scoring the most points lead Connor to his 2nd win this year. All was not lost for the other junior’s with a 2nd chance based on a series of competition this year to win the new trophy “SSC PIER CHANLLANGE TROPHY” (SSC Scottish & Southern Contracting) commissioned last year. Based over at least 3 competitions (8, 9 & 10) each one at a local pier, where the each junior’s best 2 results added together will count as a final score to find the winner of the SSC PIER CHANLLANGE TROPHY. The scoring for the SSC PIER CHANLLANGE TROPHY is as follows: 10 points for fish the competition 1 point for each fish caught (any size) Note: only one mackerel to count in each competition 1 point for each species caught 3 points for the heaviest fish (sizeable)
With 33 fish caught on the day Jimmy gets a jump on all the other junior’s Jimmy (33 fish, 3 species) total score 46 Michael (12 fish, 2 species) total score 24 Connor (7 fish, 3 species, heaviest fish) total score 23 Robin (6 fish, 2 species) total score 18
