1. Competitions for the year will be fished over
10 matches with all 10 matches to count for the Championship.
a) These competitions will be held in the
following ways:
I. 2 matches to be commodore
II. 8 matches freelance with 1
being a species race and one being a Cod only competition
b) Only 4 fish of each species may be weighed in
( only one Smoothound )
on the freelance and
commodore matches and only 1 of each on the species match.
c) Spare dates will be the first available
weekend following the march date.
2. Competitions will be fished within Area E (Commodore
Competitions to be fished no more than 1 mile from the commodore boat)
3. There will be a fixture list drawn up at the
beginning of the year for Committee Approval.
4. Competitions will be fished to a points
system:
a) Freelance and commodore will be fished using
the following points system.
I. The heaviest bag - 100
points + 10 points for fishing.
II. All positions take a percentage of the top weight and 10 points for
fishing.
III. Specimen fish ( one only ) - 10 points per species, per person per
competition (Wessex Specimen
List ).
b) Species hunt will be fished using the
following points system:
I. The
angler with the most species will divide 100 points by the number of fish caught
i.e.
If 5 species were caught, each fish
would be worth 20 points, with all other anglers receiving 20
points per fish.
II. If the match is a draw on the number of
species caught then the angler with the heaviest bag will
be awarded the
match.
5. If less than 2 boats manned are present
at the start of a competition the Officer of the day will cancel the
competition.
6. Competitors may fish with 2 rods and a
maximum of 3 hooks.
7. Start and finish times will be from the
clubhouse, other than in commodore matches. Competitors must be within 100 yards
of the slipway at the start and finish of each match otherwise this will lead to
disqualification and loss of bag weigh points. No one may leave the start of a
competition until the Officer of the day has indicated he may do so. Commodore
matches will start and finish in the area of fishing as decided by the commodore
of the day, who should also be present.
8. All fish to be sized by the
Officer of the day, undersized fish will lead to disqualification.
9. All fish to be N.F.S.A. minimum size
limits.
10. There is a total ban on Tope, Mackerel and
Sharks in all club competitions and festivals. There will also be a total ban on
Smoothounds for club competitions during the months of May and June.
11. The "MRSC Solent
Coastguard" forecast is to be used to
decide advisability of fishing. If a force 6 or a Southwest 5 wind is in the
weather forecast the match will be postponed.
12. There will be two optional pools each of £1.
(Heaviest Fish and Heaviest Bag). Latecomers will not be eligible for the
optional pools.
13. The Club Champion and Runner - up will be
entered for the Wessex Champion of Champions Match, or the next available
member.
MEMBERS ARE NOT TO LEAVE FISH ON THE CLUB
PREMISES OR TO DUMP THEM IN THE SEA OFF THE SLIPWAY
